“First observation of the new Marketplace Tech with Molly Wood - Molly is an avowed, unapologetic geek and that shows that she's more comfortable with tech than Ben was. It's also notable that in addition to being female (female geeks aren't uncommon), Molly is middle aged (good thing - gives perspective) AND a Mom (even better - gives even more unique perspective)! So Marketplace Tech now has a really unique voice and perspective among tech podcasts.
Second observation is that Marketplace Tech has embraced that it's a PODCAST, not broadcast radio, and so it's letting Molly's really interesting interviews run longer, finally understanding that podcast listeners CAN and DO (and PREFER) to listen to longer audio content (when it's genuinely interesting) because we have the luxury of choosing WHEN to listen). Maybe Marketplace Tech will eventually loosen up to allow most or all of Molly's interviews.
Third observation is that Marketplace Tech both has the credibility of the Marketplace organization behind it to get interesting interviews and stay on top of interesting tech developments AND its podcasts are well produced; well-edited, good audio levels, excellent pacing, and fun bumper music.
Last observation is that the Marketplace Tech commercials, er... "sponsor messages" are bland and repetitive, but at least they're RELEVANT to a tech audience, and for that reason I generally just listen to them instead of skipping ahead. I'm glad Marketplace Tech has chosen good supporters (so far - DON'T screw up and start shampoo commercials or other such crap).
