“This show scratches my nerd itch. I've learned so much through the pod about the early days of the Marvel Universe, and to appreciate the incredible work of its creators in the early days, especially Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. The show is fun, well composed, to the point, and funny too.
As someone who started reading comics in 2008, the early days of Marvel and the origins of my favorite superheroes and villians have always been a mystery to me, and even more so, they felt inaccessible. Where could I possibly begin? I was overwhelmed, but also sad that it felt out of reach.
"Begin here!!" This podcast screams. They give a reading list each week and I read the ones I want to, as they are all on Marvel Unlimited (I highly recommend a subscription if you want to fully enjoy the journey). Seeing the beginning of the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, the Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man in just the first 10 or so episodes was a joy. I learned so much, I re-fell in love with the characters and the beauty of comics, and I especially was overjoyed to discover Jack Kirby's fantastical drawings of monsters.
If you feel your history and understanding of the early days of Marvel are lacking and you want to fill that gaping hole, start here! Listen at your pace as you read the issues that grab you, and you'll also gain context on how the early issues and heroes are a product of their times.
The hosts are well versed in the 'verse. The guests are great. The music is catchy. And the stories are just a joy.
So.... START HERE!! :)”Read full review »

“Excelsior! I’ve been reading comics since 1977 and listening to podcasts since 2005 and I can say that this is one of my favorites. I’m pretty familiar with each of the issues discussed so it’s fun to imagine the panels described again. These hosts, Bryan and Robb, have many of the same...”Read full review »
