My (end of) 2020 Marvel pals
I came from Elliott Kalan’s recommendation on the Flop House and, oh my god, I wish I had known about this podcast at the start of this horrible year. Prior to 2020 I got my Marvel conversation fix from my coworkers, but after we all got fired during the shutdown we lost touch. While I still miss my old friends, this show has resparked my love of silly comic book nonsense and reminded me of all the fun I had back then. For anyone looking to start this podcast, I’d say scan through the guests and choose whoever seems most interesting. You may be tempted to start from the beginning, but just like comics, you should just pick a starting point and go forward or back from there. The random place where you started will become part of the conversation you have with people later. That said, I started out with Maximum Fun podcaster guest episodes (Elliott Kalan, John Hodgman, and James Arthur M) and those are loads of funny banter mixed with seriously interesting Marvel personal histories. Check this show out if you are in need of friends to talk over the latest Marvel media developments as well as laugh over intricate Marvel nonsense with.

More reviews of Marvel by the Month
I’ve never been a Marvel guy, but I’ve been listening to the podcast almost since the beginning and enjoy it immensely. The reviews are fun and most of the guests are great. The trick’ll be if they can keep me after they hit the point where Kirby leaves.

People in the 1960s weren’t like people in the 2020s. Lesson learned. We know. Things have changed. Other things...Read full review »

Oh, these hyper-lefty woke communist pansies who happen to a) give us the best panoramic view of marvel continuity and growth as they carry out their forced march through the decades, b) have a really nice rapport with one another (though transitions between comic issues are still a problem!) c)...Read full review »
