Enjoyable
Good story with a great mix of mythology. The acting was a bit over the top for me, but I couldn’t stop listening. Engaging short story that is worth your time to listen.
This was all types of bad
I wanted to love this. It’s an interesting setup for a story and the overall audio production and atmosphere was good. The acting left so much to be desired. More often than not it felt people dry reading of a piece of paper they’d never read before. But I understand that the actors volunteered their time, so I could almost forgive that. But it doesn’t explain how poorly thought out and written the story was. Still, could have been an enjoyable, albeit uneven, journey to a badly written and disappointing ending and still gotten 2-3 stars from me, but any remaining stars were gone after the transphobia starts. While it seems like the intentions of the creators may have been to be inclusive by including a trans character (that I can only hope was actually performed by a trans actor, but given the way the character is presented I am doubtful). Some alarm bells went off regarding the way the character was introduced, but I stuck with it. However, in episode 5 the way they went about developing the trans character’s role in the story was incredibly ignorant and perpetuates myths about transgender people in a way that is not only offensive, but harmful. Just skip this one.
Really good podcast
Nice world building and compelling plot. Lead actress is excellent, a bit uneven in the supporting cast but well worth a listen and I hope the creator comes back with more.
