Barely a Pilot ,

A Must-Have Training Companion

It has taken me far too long to leave this review. I have been flying for a year and midlife pilot has been with me every step of the way. As soon as I started flight school, I began looking for content to help me in my training. I tried various aviation podcasts but I felt overwhelmed by most of them. The Midlife Pilot Podcast was essential for helping me feel like I wasn't alone in my struggles to learn to fly. The community on Discord and Youtube improves upon this by providing a place to share experiences that helped me realize that I wasn't the only pilot that took FOREVER to get the hang of landings and also ephasizes the importance of being safe. While commercially geared pilots would also benefit from listening to this podcast, I think it stands out as an excellent resource for the everyday, flying-for-fun pilot.

Midlife is What You Make It

They tried to bribe me with stickers, but I already have some so this one is free! Hosts Ben, Brian, and Ted discuss the unique struggles and triumphs of flying in midlife, whatever midlife means to you. Regardless of your age, this show is a must listen for those hoping to fulfill their childhood dreams of flying, but didn’t start until later in life. Five stars, The Badger Pilot

“I Have Found Me a Home”

Borrowing a 1973 quote from Jimmy Buffett, “I have found me a home.” Brian, Ben and Ted - and their aviation devotees - are my peeps. This is a community of midlife aviators attempting to juggle life’s demands and financial realities, with the daily, irresistible calling to break our terrestrial bonds and soar above it all. The show is all about aviation in midlife - whether you’re just starting in midlife (like me) or returning to aviation after “life getting in way.” The hosts are not CFIs, and don’t claim to offer instructional advice - HOWEVER, every episode has nuggets of gold for the midlife aviator. I have limited time allocated for aviation podcasts, and this one is on my short list. I’m very much looking forward to meeting these guys and some of their followers at the Midlife Pilot Nashville Fly-In.
