“So I have been giving this podcast a shot because of the endorsement from the Hello from the Magic Tavern podcast, hoping that it would be a sci-fi version of that shows format. For the most part the show is nice and it has great production value. Unfortunately the structure is a big part of what I feel limits the podcast. First off I was totally excited when I saw an episode with Sasheer Zamata guest starring, but I found myself constantly needing to remind myself that she was playing the character because the filter they used made it hard to recognize her voice. I understand that they want to make them sound more alien but in my opinion less is more especially when you are working with a high profile guest star like Sasheer. Regarding the improv of the piece, I'm an amateur at best but i want to hear them "yes and" what there scene partners say. It feels like any conversations between the regular cast that aren't explicitly moving them toward the guest are shut down as opposed to being explored. I hope that these are just growing pain problems for a new show, I am just not able to get into this as much as HFTMT or as much as I wish I liked it. Still like I said it is very professionally put together and the sarcastic intro about the Lateral shift to the federated alliance was hilarious when I heard it.”Read full review »
