“This is my favorite podcast to listen to on my commute. I used to find it disjointed like the essay reading and the interview after were totally separate. I like the new format where the host intros at the top a little then transitions into the essay and then ends with the interview. Anna does a great job using the interviews to expand on the story and get follow up details and I always leave feeling more connected to the author. “I love listening to well-read written work. But I don't need or want perky music or bubbly water or anything else in the background. It imposes someone else's meaning on the piece.
