Here's the problem with parenting: you never know how badly you've messed up until it's too late. We have great kids, but we can only say "for now." We aren't seeing any red flags, "for now". We've talked to so many people who had teenagers on one trajectory in the early years, only to see it change dramatically. So the verdict is still out when you have seven kids between us. Nat is hoping for one rebel; Cat wants nothing to do with that. Want our podcasts sent straight to your phone? Text...

There's a huge controversy online involving a mom and one of her children. The entire account is focused on her daughter. Many people are saying, 'Save the daughter.' But when you see who is commenting, it's disturbing. Where is the line between parents making money off of their children? And then there's Reddit. Everything is there. Everyone is anonymous. There is so much abuse and negativity. There is no censor. You can find anything. It's just gone public, which is ironic for the users who...

We got hacked in the craziest way. They stole our whole Facebook identity. They stole our audience, and then they hijacked our page. So sneaky. They created a subpage which was just sh*tty, junky news, with gross photos. We had a phone call with them, their emails were all so detailed and professional. No passwords were given and then oops, it's gone. And you can see it happening but you can't do anything about it. It was a week, but we got it back! Facebook is our original platform, and it...

You can love yourself but not be 100% confident. You can be insecure in relationships and friendships, always watching, not able to live your own life because you are constantly chasing what the other person is doing. The minute you don't give a f*ck is the minute people stop playing with your emotions. The minute you can put a boundary in is the minute the other person can't do it anymore. You teach people how to treat you. When they know what your boundary is and that you've made it clear,...

P.Diddy, what are you doing?? Homeland Security was all over his place, which means they have official evidence. How do people think that they are above the law and won't get caught?? S*x trafficking is often carried out by people you know and trust, sold in exchange for money, gifts, or housing, preying on vulnerable people. It's important that we are aware and can talk to our children about it. You can find exactly what to say, how to talk to your children, terminology, and more at...

This is the thing about parenting: you have to do the hard things. You can't just threaten them; you have to follow through. Nat had to put her foot down and make a hard decision, which was not a fan favourite among the people she was with and was encouraged not to make that decision. But the disrespect needed a consequence. How are our kids going to learn if there aren't any consequences? Nobody wanted the consequence, but sometimes there is short-term pain for long-term gain. Want our...

Many parents find themselves in a pattern; they calmly ask their kids to do something and nothing happens. Then they repeat themselves, repeat it again, with one more reminder and then…they blow up. When kids don’t listen, parents often feel the need to take back control and you can almost guarantee that you’ll enter into a power struggle where no one comes out as the winner. In this episode, you’ll learn that misbehaviour is always a symptom of a deeper issue, what causes it, and the...

If there is one piece of advice for any parent, it is to diversify your child's friend group. Put them on different teams or in different camps. Do not stick with the same kids all year round. This includes boys too. Sh*t goes sideways. If you stick with one group from Kindergarten to Grade 12, there will be issues. You want your child to be able to walk away from an issue if needed. If they have different friends in different groups, they will be able to walk away. Want our podcasts sent...

When our kid has a misstep, rebellion, or mistake, it can feel like we as parents have failed them. Similar to muscle growth, our kids need to tear and repair along their life journey to become more emotionally strong and resilient. We sat down with Michelle Icard, author of 8 Setbacks That Can Make a Child a Success: What to Do and What to Say to Turn “Failures’ into Character-Building Moments, to learn how we can reframe our expectations and help our kids prepare to launch in to the real...

During the tween and teen years, our child’s brain enters the second and final massive growth phase of their lifetime. What makes this phase so challenging for both parents and their children is that the teen brain becomes emotionally raw and reactive, and that once bubbly and affectionate child begins to struggle with emotional regulation and wants literally nothing to do with their parents. Parents are left confused and unsure how to navigate the relationship with their teenager. Aly...
