An in depth and engaging study of this endlessly facinating subject with a fair few artistic liberties taken for effect but WHY the English, Scottish and Welsh accents…?

Well done, interesting and informative. Will not find these details in the history books.

“Once upon a time there was a totally unbiased story not at all intended to dupe the gullible into drawing tenuous connections and making false moral and political equivalences…and they lived credulously ever after.”

Usual UK trashing of Germany. Hyperbolic, polemical, distortion of facts with badly researched script. Incompetent actors doing comedy voices with cringe accents. Absolute trash.

Full of lies, imagine living in 2023 and still thinking the national socialists were the “bad guys.” Watch the greatest story never told and Europa the last battle.

It’s a good podcast, but even with the all the history and specifics of the situation in 1930s Germany delivered in a consumer friendly manner, people still tend to conflate the issues of today with the issues surrounding the Second World War.

Very well made … and more timely than we want to admit: “make Germany great again” indeed; maybe this time around we’ll ignore the words of the budding autocrat, and learn from history rather than being doomed to repeat it.

I have been listening to this podcast since episode 1 and it hooks you at the very start. This Takes place from many perspectives that make it very interesting! Bravo Zulu to those who have participated to created this!

For anyone who has even a cursory knowledge of history, this was the phrase that Hitler used in his rise to power. It is a nationalist saying. This podcast is excellent.

I’m a history buff and I was excited when I seen this show for about 1.2 seconds until I seen “make Germany great again” name for an episode.. I’m not a trump supporter but I know a lot of good ppl that are!! Type of ppl that would do anything for anyone and it’s absolutely disgusting

This is by far not as brilliant as the Nuremberg Trials I’m afraid to say. They tried a similar approach with personalized storytelling, and almost fell flat. At times, I felt drowned in details that were barely put in context, jumping from one dot in history to another. Most unpleasant is the...Read full review »

I have seen and heard a lot about 2 world war- but this podcast gives an angle, and suspense full story- that’s new

Very confusing podcast. Wish it was a normal informative podcast instead of whatever that was

History with a relevant narrative plot…great acting and audio design…compelling and absorbing with me on the edge of my seat despite knowing the general outline of the story. I’m so happy to have discovered that BBC is so excellent at the podcast business.

I want to listen to the story so much but I CANT get through the voices at all. They are just all unbearable and I have trouble keeping track of what character is who and speaking when.

Great content, and will put together, but Adolf Hitler with a Liverpool accent? and Herman Goering with a Cockney accent? (God only knows the accent of his mistress). Come on, how hard is it to have English speaking German actors do the voice overs? I find the content, production, and angle of...Read full review »

Really bad 👎👎

A podcast about how a supposedly sophisticated civilisation perpetrated one of the worst crimes against humanity on record. It just simply beggars belief that a corporal was able to hijack the German government in less than 20 years, leading the entire country into the abyss. Quite...Read full review »

An interesting and innovative dramatized podcast.

Interesting historical facts overshadowed by overacting and over direction. Everyone shouts even Lord Rothermere!

A podcast about how Pan Germanism and it’s elements in the German government, media, industry and army, trained, funded and enabled Hitler.
ChrisjApps via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/17/23
I’m new to this genre of pod, historical dramatisation. I found in very interesting, the acting is 1st rate. I was a little confused sometimes about which parts were verbatim speeches (are any of them) and which parts were purely conjecture.

Would be interested in learning more about the source material. Some of the behind the scenes conversations are fascinating, but how were they developed. Diaries? Oral histories?
smbern1217 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/12/23
As a WW1 lover I like the storytelling and narration (don’t listen to the bad reviews). I had no idea about how influential Hitler was in 1919.

As a fan of history podcasts, this series works really well for me. Right alongside the excellent BBC series on Putin and Xi. Clever combo of historical narration and dramatic interludes.

This would be great with a real fascist marxist authoritarian reading hitters part, like the democrat fraud in chief joe biden.

Very good show. Educational but keeps you interested. A little hard to follow at times but even with that I still love it.

Lots of interesting information but too much dramatisation. A regular podcast without so much fanfare would have been better.

The guy who plays Hitler really goes for it. I look forward to each episode.

This is a good show and it’s obvious that lots of effort was put in it, with the many actors taking various roles. It is unfortunate that no amount of effort was spent in pronouncing German names in a German way. It’s Isar Gate not Aisar Gate, or Bechstein not Beckstein. It’s a real pity since it...Read full review »

Great audio-drama concept, childish narration.
Mr_Plenty via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/23/23
I liked the story idea very much, but I believe it failed in its execution. The scenes that were chosen could have been more relevant and at times were over acted. I truly wanted to like this, anything that tries to bring history to life should be pursued, but I just believe this missed the mark.

Correct amount dramatization. Love most of the actors. Maybe moves a little too fast sometimes though. Can be hard to keep track of what characters are speaking or in the scene.

Really well put together and lots of good information for our times, (Make Germany Great Again) lest we forget.

Enlightening podcast, but find narration difficult to listen to.

Too much dramatization. It's extremely jarring when listening. Would have been much better as a regular podcast with one host/narrator.Read full review »
