I’m so glad the boys have started producing new content again. The analysis of the various different teams and players strikes the right balance between objectiveness and subjective opinion. Also provides enjoyable insights about the wider culture of the 80s and 90s, and deviations on kits and...Read full review »

I’ve been listening for a few years now. This recent flurry of podcasts discoursing the 1988 European Championships is brilliant as have been all the previous shows. A brilliant listen over the summer every Monday mornings. I would love to hear a deep dive into the 1980 European Championships...Read full review »

So glad the pod is back! Been checking back regularly the last few months so these new Euro ‘88 episodes are lovely surprise. Please don’t leave us again! For me the best format is Lee Calvert as host, with any of Rob Smyth, Mike Gibbons or Scott Murray as guests. Furthermore, Martin Ramsay has...Read full review »

Despite looking for all and any possible reason (as an embittered Sellik man), I was unable to find a single thing to criticise about the addition of Martyn as host (on the contrary, you’re great). The pod continues to inform and entertain- keep it up!

Am I the only one who wishes they’d expand widen the time frame to the 00s as I’m worried they’ll run out of topics!

A fantastic podcast, great knowledge and passion for their topics and so easy to listen to these guys talk, I think I would listen to them talk about any subject not just 80s and 90s football. Keep up the good work

They're a bit erratic with their output but Lee Calvert and his mates drill down on 80s and 90s football in very entertaining, often astonishing detail. Long may they continue.Read full review »

Really enjoy this podcast, superb deep dives into 90s footballing nostalgia

The topics covered, the depth given and the experience is fantastic and new episodes are welcomed. With such a regular cohort of panelists, it’d be nice to hear better audio (local recordings stitched together) but doesn’t really detract. Excellent.

I’ve just started listening to podcasts. Found a few about 90s football but this is easily the best one. Brilliant, witty and insightful. I listen to them at work. I’m outside walking all day so listening to Rob, Lee, Gary and co passes the time with a smile on my face. I read Rob’s Danish...Read full review »

Having lived through the times covered - it brings back loads of memories from a time long gone. It rambles around with loads of personal anecdotes and it’s definitely worth an hour of your time every now and again.

Absolutely amazing! Now a fully signed up Patreon, which having listened to the Mexico 86 podcasts, were well worth the subscription paid. I’d pay double the subscription for more episodes! Just brought the Denmark book, loving it! Keep up the good work! Massive thumbs up! 👍🏻

As I’m a huge 80s/90s football fan, this podcast is perfect, really love all the subjects and topics they chat about. The best two guests are Rob Smyth and Mike Gibbons as they’re always very well informed and know their stuff. I’m someone who knows a lot about 80s/90s football so they’re ideal...Read full review »

Everything was better when I was young, and that includes football. This pod focuses each episode on a particular team or player or tournament from 80s/90s British football, and the witty and knowledgeable hosts take you through a blissful reminiscence. If you miss Des Lynam, the Spice Boys, and...Read full review »

I listen to many football based podcasts, many have a comedy twist but they often lack the facts and the detail. This pod has humour, facts and it hits all the topics that we want to look back on. Great stuff!

Hammering these during the lockdown! Well done, excellent analysis and very humorous. Please record more episodes soon! Those whingeing about the sound quality need to get a life or a decent pair of headphones!

Content wise this is a really good podcast, however, the fact they aren’t in a studio really shows and leads to several interruptions every episode where they talk over each other. With a heavy heart, I’m close to giving up on it.

This is a dreadful podcast, the sound is horrific and instantly off-putting. Phone calls cut out regularly, and you lose important bits of information which no one bothers to correct or reiterate. You’ve got a flamin’ cheek to ask for money on patreon. Also, you’re always cutting short the flow...Read full review »

This is a superb series and Lee and his contributors offer an insightful, intelligent, and amusing analysis of talking points from 80's and 90's football. You need a sound engineer guys and some quality control. Perhaps if the presenters listened to it before putting it out to the big, wide world they would do something to improve the audio quality. A shame because the topic should be interesting.

This is an absolutely superb series that has whiled away many a happy hour for me (a 38-year old) with vivid memories of 80s and 90s football. Great for domestic football content (particularly if you like an Everton slant to any subject) but let down by uninformed or poorly researched views of football beyond the British Isles. The Motty Vs Barry Davies episode is a particular high.

Was really looking forward to this but realised that the only reason I can tolerate Sid Lowe on a dodgy line from Spain every week is because he’s only on for 5mins. How difficult is it to get 3 people, all living/working in the same country into the same room and have good quality audio?
