Sound fx are not necessary. Whooshing sounds are just hard to take. Stories are good. Silly noises. Why?? please stop that. Background talking and noises are absolutely putting me off.

After reading some reviews I thought I would give it a try anyway, but the puns are just too much. It’s so unfortunate because the stories are great and even the hosts voice is good. And I could even handle the sound effects. But the puns just take me right out of the story and make me cringe....Read full review »

These are stories about peoples loved ones being murdered. There’s nothing cute or funny about the puns. Poor taste.
Tattlesnake via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/07/24
The puns are so unnecessary. The strange background music and random sounds and voices are equally annoying.

Good stories. The puns are terrible though.

Sexual using the victims with puns and creepy comments is absolutely sickening.

Have you stopped this program? It was one of my favorite programs and always looked forward to the next one.Hope to see a new series soon.

I agree with others, this could be a good podcast, but the terrible one liners make it a hard listen. They are cheesy, sexist and often inappropriate.

The content is serious and seems like a true crime that is important to solve and understand what happened, but there are like weird spaceship sounds and other frequencies happening that make this feel really cheeeeesy and weird

Meh
Good stories but the constant alliterations are a bit much.

The puns really make it hard to listen to.

The nightmare next door is misleading. There was 1 episode where the killer was a neighbor. The rest were strangers or relatives. The narrator is terrible. The writers need to be fired. Listening to him make puns while describing a child being r***ed is sicking.

Does anyone from the show read these ? The horn is distracting, ruins the episode.
koleleea via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/30/23
I like the show but the constant, unnecessary cheap jokes are disrespectful to the victims and their families

Well researched stories but the narrator ruins it. He’s seriously unfunny and I have no idea why he feels corny jokes are even needed when talking about such subject matter.

I love the stories and the guests in this podcast. The background noises are beyond triggering, annoying and/or distracting. The narrator is unnecessarily corny. I could put up with the corny narration but the noises have turned me off. If you ever remove the background noises, I’d be happy to...Read full review »

This is a very good podcast but the background music needs to go it’s so distracting.

What’s up with the semi truck horn noise? I’m 17 minutes into my first episode and I’ve heard it 50 times. There’s no semi-truck in this so far, and the vehicles they’re looking for are not semis either. There have been some tacky statements that were eyeroll-worthy, too.

For the love of god read and listen to the many reviews pleading with you to stop the same tired puns and jokes. It’s so flippant and actually kind of disturbing to use them when telling of such terrible acts of violence. These stories are much more than simple entertainment. The puns sometimes...Read full review »

Whoever edits this podcast uses the same very distracting sound for every transition. Sped up, slowed down, remixed, but always the same digital sound. Please. I am begging you to use a different sound and to stop editing this sound into every clip.

The content and research is phenomenal. The puns are really tacky. I wish they would stop with these cheesy puns. These are true horrific crimes and the puns are out of place and really show a type of degradation of the victims. PLEASE STOP

I like the stories but all the puns and word play are so cheesy and completely unnecessary

I enjoyed the stories and they’re well narrated. After a while, two things gnawed at my enjoyment to the point I could listen no longer. Firstly, whoever does the writing is far too hung up on kitch and cringy phrases themed around the place of the episode, like ‘something smelt bad, but it...Read full review »

Content of this podcast is outstanding. The one thing that bothers me is the puns; they come off as callous, and in very poor taste- without regard to how victims/family members of victims might react to these completely inappropriate puns. Just drop that part, and you’ll have an even better...Read full review »

I love the fact that more people get to hear these peoples stories. It’s important and valid. However calling people hookers and fry cooks is just really lame. Don’t you think victims deserve better than terrible puns and snappy narration? This is shameful.
Agatha, Ann, Margaret, May via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/21/23
This is in interesting story but many of the comparisons in the story-telling are cringy. This is a serious story about a very traumatic event that happened to a little girl and the way it’s told seems disrespectful.

My head (and ears) hurt from shifting back and forth between the competing tones of true crime in the content, and America’s Funniest Home Videos in the narration.
Acerodney via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/30/23
I listened to two episodes but can’t do another due to the disrespectful puns surrounding a child’s assault and death. I imagine the hurt the family feels as their loved ones story is stuck in the middle of a bunch of tongue and cheek, inappropriate comments. Do better
Eyefarted via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/28/23
Is this really produced in the 21st century ? Choice f language and description of girls victimizd are like something out of the 1970s. Disrespectful, offensive, and downright shocking sometimes,. He tries to make it titillating… Ick! Unfollowing. Absolutely tasteless
MacFanProf via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/26/23
Your killing me with the back round music and noises. I hope when you re up you take them out. Also the cheesy comments can we step it up here?
Teon77 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/24/23
Make the alliteration stop! The writing on this show is truly awful and, by its style, trivializes what happened to the victims. Makes the whole thing like some cheesy/cheap detective novelette. “If the clean coffee cups were cozy in the cupboard… That might be the ticket to pegging the perp at...Read full review »
