Starting with a little-known but highly influential band that emerged from the US Army barracks in Germany amid The Cold War. Join Marcus Parks and Carolina Hidalgo as they explore the formation of The Monks, the group's unconventional sound, and their impact on the subsequent Punk and Alternative music scenes…

On episode two of our series on the Monks, Marcus and Carolina explore the recording of their legendary and sadly only album in addition to the 1967 tour to Saigon that became the killing blow for the band.

On this coda to our series on the Monks, Marcus delves into the checkered history of another unknown Vietnam War protest band called the Covered Wagon Musicians and Carolina tells the tale of the Monks from the end of the band's heyday until present day.

No Dogs is back to continue your musical journey through the vast, winding history of Experimental Rock. This time embarking on a brand new series with the intention to shed some light on an often misunderstood side of the experimental rock world - Krautrock! Beginning first with a band formed out of a collective of musicians who met as members of a West German commune during the late 1960s, and who would go on to, maybe more so than anyone, define the words "experimental rock"... It's time for the one and only, Amon Düül II.

Marcus and Carolina return, and this season we shift our focus towards a sub-genre of Music, that much like Punk, encompasses a wide range of different styles cross-pollinating organically in the underground music scene of the 1970's, this season we're diving headfirst into Alternative.
Kicking off with the first series, covering one of the most influential acts in musical history, The Velvet Underground. - In this episode we meet a young, complicated Lou Reed and learn how his friendship with John Cale and their mutual love of experimental music would lead to the formation of what would become The Velvet Underground.
