Influencer Episode

I normally like this podcast but the influencer episode was a huge red flag for me. Mads was talking about how she doesn’t disclose that she gets things for free….even though by law she’s supposed to. She said it takes away from her “authenticity” but that’s the most hypocritical thing….the reason people don’t trust influencers is BECAUSE they are constantly hiding this stuff. If she were upfront about all the free things she’s getting it would create a better, more transparent industry and stop affecting people’s mental health so negatively.

Time could be better spent elsewhere

Her voice is soothing, but the content is a bit superficial/empty. I was bothered by her trying to justify not disclosing partnerships claiming it makes her posts “inauthentic”, but the very nature of doing so makes it inauthentic. Quote: “I’m not gonna write on my stories ‘this is a collab, joe and the juice gives me free sandwiches!.. that just takes away from everything… same goes for revolve… I have credit to Revolve so I’m going to use it, why would I not?” I get a sense this is more for her than others, and nothing wrong with that but I would say there are many other more fulfilling and better organized podcasts for self-help and deeper reflection.

love your podcast

I’ve been following mads on instagram for a while now, and I love getting to hear more of her voice and experience more of her personality. I appreciate how the podcast advocates for a balanced lifestyle and shares the real and raw parts of the life. Sending love <3
