Description
This week, we look at the way one 90-year-old agency is transforming how it impacts the lives of women and families who are homeless and in recovery from addiction and/or mental illness. Emma Norton Services (http://www.emmanorton.org)is based in St. Paul, Minnesota and my guest this week is Executive Director Roxanne Condon. She has been with the organization since 2010.
On the show, Roxanne explains the thoughtful and intentional way the staff and board determined program outcomes - essentially, what they wanted their clients to have or be able to do by the time they leave the transitional housing and support services of Emma Norton Residence and the permanent housing of Emma's Place. Using outcomes is fairly new for this agency and so it is a perfect case study for those of you who are starting to devise outcomes for your own programs. The agency has already begun to see extraordinary results.
Also, since Roxanne has more than 20 years experience with nonprofit program management, I asked her what she would do if she were starting a nonprofit like Emma Norton Services today. She asks some really great questions that every leader of a new organization needs to answer to get off on the right foot.
I hope you enjoy the show.
