Something Different
It’s a shame to hear about to needless death of the LEO over a bank robbery where the criminals never even took the cash out of the parking lot. I feel like after the getaway driver had been shot, the van hostage & cash had been found, there was really no need for the police to go chasing after a bunch of religious cultists who had bigger & more dangerous weapons. If they’d let them go & worried about catching them later, maybe the cop who was shot in the right eye would have lived to see his son grow up. Maybe the innocent bystanders wouldn’t have gotten caught in crossfire. Maybe a helicopter wouldn’t have been shot in the sky. But like DJ said in his interview, the cops allowed their rage to take over & bc of that, people died that didn’t need to. He was too concerned with revenge, which is NOT the responsibility of law enforcement, that too many others suffered. I find it interesting the police wanted to blame it on “not having big enough guns” when the reality is, i can’t imagine just how much MORE deadly this event would have been if they did! There’s always going to be a bigger weapon. The priority should be to protect money over people, not visa versa. while the criminals were obviously in the wrong, it was the police who killed first. Not the robbers. The interviews definitely confirmed how i already feel about law enforcement: they too often use unnecessary force & are not to be trusted.

This could have a been a great story however like many things in this country, it has been politicized. I’m not sure why I can’t listen to a podcast about a bank robbery in the 80s with out hearing about current political issues.
