“Hi guys! Love your YouTube channel, but think I like this format even more. I’m a 60+ female living full time in an off-the-grid yurt in northern New England for the past 8 years. Happiest I’ve been my whole life. Close to the things important to me. (Nature, silence, friends and family, free time to be healthier and creative). I’ve always valued time over money. People don’t realize how little you really need.
Listening to the winter camping episode, you mentioned cold boots. Realize the Scamp is very small, but if you can find a spot close to the wood stove or even near the ceiling, boots will be much warmer than living by the door. My boots hang on a hook over wood stove. And hot water bottles prewarming the bed - or anytime you need more external heat - are worth their weight in gold! I have a designated pan just for re-warming the water. (Don’t use precious new water). Also those (softer) blue 1/2” foam camping pad are awesome for everything. Anytime you feel heat being conducted away from your body, a piece of that blue, close cell pad will make a huge difference. Even standing outside with boots on. If your feet are getting cold, standing on the pad will help. I made a foam ring for the freezing toilet seat. Awesome! (People have no idea how much I baby myself! They think I’m super tough! Lol).
Know your situation is different and none of these tips may work for you. Or maybe have considered them. Just thought I’d share. Half the fun with this lifestyle is finding solutions to make one more comfortable, efficient, healthier! You are very lucky to be able to forge your own unique path so early. Social pressure to conform can be ubiquitous and unrelenting.
SO cool about the land! Very confident your fans will not only stick around, but go nuts over the new and different content. Best of luck!! 😘 - Cindy”
