I love the connections these historians make between history and current events. I’m learning so much about US history that always seemed dry and boring in history classes, and I feel I understand the present better too.

These excellent story tellers and historians provide enticing and enlightening links between our past and present US culture. Their perspective also hints at some less- than-dismal prospects for our future.

I subscribed after being impressed by Richardson’s appearances on other shows. I like this podcast but find the format a bit frustrating. I follow politics and am a history buff, but the context Heather and Joanne provide inevitably stops me in the middle of whatever I’m doing and drops my jaw. The little-known parallels and precedents are so instructive, it’s scary. This is my absolute favorite podcast!

The way Heather Cox Richardson and Joanne Freeman weave historical information into current events is both illuminating and often comforting: when I think what is going on is so outrageous, to hear of similar or even more disturbing events in the American past allows me some perspective and the...Read full review »

I enjoy hearing your perspective on the history presented in your podcast, usually.
