Now and then
I was not a great student in high school and history was my least favorite subject...it was boring, a lot of memorizing dates and places without much back ground to why those dates and places were important. Maybe there was more there, but l either daydreamed through class or just didn't care. In recent years l have discovered how fascinating the STORIES of history are, and soak it up whenever l can. I was introduced to Heather Cox Richardson's " Letters from an American" a while ago, and l start each day with her over my first cup of coffee, always a bit sad when she takes a well deserved day off. Some time later a friend told me of this podcast.....l listen to a number of podcasts, but this is by far my favorite. Anyone concerned about the events going on in this country today, and wonders "how did we get here?" would benefit from the historical perspective these two brilliant women give in this podcast....and they do it with a good dose of humor, occasionally disagreeing. It is educational, but feels like a friendly conversation over coffee and that I'm in the room with them....a good feeling during covid. I give it 5 stars, but would give it a lot more if could.Read full review »

I was so looking forward to this, and they did not disappoint. You come for the history lesson and stay for the anecdotes and friendly banter between the hosts.
