“Maura Liasson’s comments on Kamala Harris in reference to her presidential acceptance speech would have broadly been deemed offensive had they been made by a man. I found them offensive even so. There was no need to discuss her height, what she wore, or whether or not “as a female candidate” she appeared tough enough to be commander in chief. The way Liasson stated her comments seemed to normalize or even condone that kind of criticism, when it is in fact unacceptable, however prevalent it may be in certain circles. It’s good to report on actual sexism that exists, but disappointing to hear it manufactured on NPR.”
