“It was amusing hearing the highly paid, Kara Swisher, mediocrity tut-tutting about Ezra Klein leaving ‘money on the table’. Let’s just say Swisher is barely a fraction of the thinker and writer that Klein is…despite her non-stop claims of greatness.
I’m sure Klein is making an extremely comfortable living at The NY Times. I have a feeling that he sees the current ‘media landscape’ where every journalist’s goal is now to cash in big on Substack, etc. as being very bad for journalism in general, bad for the body politic, bad for community, and in the end unsustainable. How many ‘journalists’ do you think can earn millions for their precious thoughts before the whole thing collapses? Because he’s a great writer and thinker and because he’s OK with earning enough money, I have a lot more respect for him than anyone.
People who are earning 7 figures on Substack are being grossly overpaid…no matter who they are. Plus they live in a hermetically sealed echo chamber.”
