ATC is so Serious - it is Best Understood by Comedians
When I first started listening to Opposing Bases, I wondered if serious, safety critical, information could be effectively presented by clowns. Over time I realized that AG and RH are pedagogical geniuses. ATC is random and much of it was designed by accident or as a result on an accident. I now understand, that those with a gift for comedic timing and other comedy skills are best equipped to explain how ATC works. The 2 hosts have above average, but not exceptional, comedy skills. As a result you laugh just enough to remember the points with assist from the positive emotions, but not so hard that you forget what was said. When I was in the standing room only crowd at their live Oshkosh taping and watched the faces in the audience alternating between giggles and insights I was observing true talent at work.

As a Private Pilot it’s very nice to get the views and opinions of Air Traffic Controllers. RH and AG have great tips on helping them out as controllers that ultimately help us out as pilots!
