This book is well researched, well written: It is a gift not just to America but also to the world. Both it’s author, Ms. Isabel Wilkerson and Oprah’s Book Club have performed an indelible service. I am extremely grateful. Please, even if you don’t anticipate that you will agree with the book,...Read full review »

This book was very well written and enlightening. Only those who are bigoted and does not like the truth will have a problem with this book and its contents. Will be using this book to teach the truth to all those who love it

Don’t play yourself and think that you are free of the need to read or know this information. This book is the truth that Americans wish to disregard continually simply because THAT discussion would bring forth THIS truth. I’ve waited to listen to this convo because I had not yet read the book...Read full review »

I’ve learned so much about the “hard” subjects to talk about through Oprah’s book club. I can’t wait to read Caste - the blind spots in our culture aren’t serving us well

Oprah, Isabelle, Thank you. Our culture needs a radical shift and hearing the deep cultural problems so well defined is the first step. Here’s to hope for a better future.

If u say that Oprah is a horrible human being, really your being rude and selfish. Your the horrible human being. I wish the world was peaceful and everyone didn’t have to be so rude. Isabel Wilkerson has a wonderful way of bringing dry material to life and making it enthralling reading. The horror of what our culture has inflicted on POC, minorities and truly all of us through this caste system is really on display in these pages. I’ll admit I didn’t know some of the history...Read full review »

Painful, but necessary listening. I enjoyed the format of getting a breakdown of the ‘pillars’ outlined in the book and then hearing from readers as well as those that have first hand experience of this caste system. Definitely history that should be taught in schools to better understand the...Read full review »

I must say I do not know American history well. I was shocked and ashamed at the behavior of my fellow white Americans. Beyond being a history book, Isabel opens our eyes to how things need to change. I hope many will listen and learn.

I can’t thank you enough for hosting this important conversation and for years of supporting writers and artists and historians. Thank you Isabel Wilkerson for giving us the tools to see and articulate caste as we continue the struggle.

This woman achieved the American dream yet she oppresses her own race by lying to them and deceiving them. What a disgusting human being and a sad disgrace to the American people. Instead of making the world better, she has made it worse.

The thumbnail photo of Oprah is just as heavily photoshopped as the covers of all of her O magazines. Designed to make her look like a svelte 30 year old rather than a plump 60 something.
