Pick a lane: audiobook or fiction podcast
I’m a fan of single-narrator podcasts. I’m a fan of well-placed music, sound effects, and other soundscaping to enhance the story. I’m fan of using filters, accents, and other techniques to differentiate characters. What I’m not a fan of is leaving in all the “he/she/they said” attribution lines when it’s very, very clear because of the filters and accents who said what. I’m not a fan of hearing well placed SFX and then having the narrator describe the sound in detail, because I just heard it. Adapt your product to the medium and cut out the things no longer necessary. It’ll be a better fit and we won’t be constantly taken out of the story.

I’d only just finished TV series and this pops up. I’m so vested in the characters it feels so natural to keep going. Fabulous!
