I want to draw hearts and stars around Other People
When I read a book I really love, I have an inclination to call the writer on the phone and talk to them all night. I want to know who they are as people, how they became a writer, how they came to write the book, if they have tattoos, if they used to smoke, on and on and on. Brad Listi must feel this way too. I listen to a lot of writerly podcasts (Selected Shorts, NY Fiction podcast) and those are great and amazing to hear about the stories themselves. I adore those podcasts. But Other People has this fabulous home-spun feel to it. I feel like I'm sitting at the same table with these people. They're all saying the things I'm thinking. I love it.
