Have you tried listening to this podcast in the dark? It is a game changer. Laying down in the dark with AirPods on and listening to this podcast that takes me back into time. No distractions but some experts talking about Ottoman empire. It’s surreal.

Profound, takes-its-time, niche-yet-awe-provoking knowledge on the Ottomans.

This is one of the best history podcasts out there. The guests are experts in their fields, the hosts are knowledgeable, and the team as a whole engages with the scholarly community at large, creating meaningful educational resources in the process.

Thought-provoking interviews with top scholars have helped this American look at history a little differently. Comprehensive website too.

I’ve been listening to the Ottoman History Podcast since about its inception nearly a decade ago. It’s got better in terms of its production and widening of hosts and topics - it’s pretty much the only podcast I listen to (with a few exceptions) and am always happy and mentally stimulated...Read full review »

A fascinating podcast, whose range of subjects extends far beyond the Ottoman Empire, consistently presented in an engaging way to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. If I were to make a minor criticism, I am not so much a fan of the 'narrated' episode style that has recently...Read full review »

Chris Graten (or however you spell his name) is great. I’ve been listening to this podcast for years. I have a graduate degree in Middle East Studies, but I’m not in academia. The discussions are in depth and scholarly but really accessible.

I love this podcast. Every episode there is an interesting topic, and both the host and the guests are far from boring when they are talking about even dense subjects. This is a good follow up to the History of Byzantium, which is a good addition to the various Rome histories. I am giving it 4 stars because no one else is covering this era, and not 5 because a few others are better and deserve higher scores.

I've listened to a bunch of different history podcasts and was happy to find this one.
