Intros
I love love love this show. It’s my favorite history podcast and one of my top podcasts overall. But the really long intros are difficult for me. I have severe ADHD, and I usually have to skip through the intros. For example, the Titanic episode starts with like 20 minutes of just talking about how big the movie was when it came out. The intros have always been a bit rambly and I get that cause I do it too, but it makes me absolutely lose focus and derails the point being made. I don’t need a 15 explanation on what Galileo said about Dante’s inferno to understand the irony of his position as an academic. I have a degree in history, and intros are supposed to hook your audience and introduce the subject. They shouldn’t be 15-20 minutes of talking about something else to introduce a point that will introduce the main subject

Great podcast: entertaining, informative, and fun! Well-researched, energetically presented, and not the least bit stuffy. Sebastian is a lively host, who covers a lot of interesting material and keeps things moving. Cool musical transitions, too.

I first remember listening to Sebastian Major tell stories almost a decade ago, back when he was my counsellor at summer camp. He always had an incredible knack for weaving a tale, so I wasn’t at all surprised to hear he’d started up a podcast — or to discover that it was amazing! Listening to...Read full review »
