War is hell
•Episode: “Who won the War Of 1812 (Part 1)” in which the first 22 minutes may be scrubbed through to reach the start of the interesting bits. Listener, you have been warned. •Episode: “Who won the War Of 1812 (Part 2)” in which the host confuses “disinterest” with “lack of interest”. •Episodes: “Who was the African Samurai (parts 1 and 2): 2¾ hours to tell a half-hour story. Didn’t make it to the end. Was looking forward to the Mata Hari tale, but I can get through a lot more of my podcast listening in the three to four hours that’ll take. Nowdays I’m only here for the Dirty Church. Sorry. Just too long.

Great podcast: entertaining, informative, and fun! Well-researched, energetically presented, and not the least bit stuffy. Sebastian is a lively host, who covers a lot of interesting material and keeps things moving. Cool musical transitions, too.

Despite the feeble attempts at humor (“Schliemann”) and the padding offered by the incongruous bumper music, its actually a very interesting show. Quite informative and entertaining.

Being a big history nerd I'm always looking for good history podcasts and this ticks all the boxes. It's funny, informative and the host has a good speaking voice. Highly recommend.Read full review »
