“The podcast is at its best when dealing with pseudo history like the Templars and 1421 (both excellent), but it is wobbly on historical controversies like the Renaissance: oh dear it’s not clear when the Renaissance started and ended….historians can’t/don’t want to agree on when the (insert: Industrial Revolution, twentieth century etc) started and ended, so it is difficult take periodisation arguments seriously.
Some episodes take too long to get to the point - I sometimes lose interest during the intro (for example I didn’t make it through a recent episode on Galileo).
But overall worth following.”
