Oversharing from Betches Media is all about the challenges we face in all kinds of relationships; from friendships to family, long term partnerships or even dealing with the customer service rep that makes you want to scream into a pillow. Betches co-founder and relationship enthusiast Jordana Abraham has teamed up with her big sister, licensed clinical therapist Dr. Naomi Bernstein, to answer your questions and try to get to the bottom of the things that bother us most. Think of Jordana and Dr. Naomi as your BFF and your therapist, sitting side-by-side at the brunch table trying to help you get through your problems. Each week they’re responding to listener emails, tackling difficult ethical questions, playing games, and so much more. Because sometimes we really need advice from people with no skin in the game. And let’s face it, your friends can’t stand to hear that story one more time.

Baby Steps: How Do I Know When It’s Time To Seek Fertility Help? Ft. Dr. Bana Kashani

Welcome back to Baby Steps! In this first episode of Baby Steps Season 2, presented by First Response, Jordana is joined by fertility and IVF Specialist Dr. Bana Kashani to talk about all the different forms fertility journeys can take. They start things off with what people can expect when they seek the type of professional fertility care that Dr. Kashani offers and the various steps of testing and resources available. They also discuss how to even go about finding the right fertility doctor, and how to avoid some pitfalls along the way. Then they get into how social media can often wrap people’s perceptions of what the ‘right’ things to do can be during your journey, and some pointers to help find the balance between living a bubble and healthy in your life. After that, they address various forms of fertility treatments and some resources for financial assistance to offset the high costs these are associated with. To round us out, Dr. Kashani offers some positive reinforcement to anyone struggling with fertility and gives some encouragement to help you on your way.

On my weekly rotation

I love Jordana on U Up, and her sensibility continues to be a good balance on oversharing. Both her and Dr. Naomi have great chemistry, and a good balance between the realities of today that Jordana brings, and calm and collectedness of Dr. Naomi.

The only feedback I want to provide is about baby steps. As an average suburban mom who has been struggling with fertility issues in trying to expand our family, some of the topics and guests were not relatable. I think bringing on specialists such as hormone doctors, nutritionists, etc. would be a lot more interesting than some of these farther out topics that was covered in season 1!

Recycling/emissions convo wasn’t great

I normally love this podcast and am excited to listen every week. I found the discussion of recycling and carbon emissions in this week’s episode - which essentially dismissed taking any individual actions to support the environment without first conducting any underlying research - to be irresponsible and out of character of the show. Please do your research and avoid spreading misinformation on these topics (recycling, the connecting flight comment). Many trust this podcast for advice and this would be a good opportunity for Jordanna especially (given her role leading a company) to be more educated on sustainability and climate practices.
