“Had a listen to a few episodes trying to find something new to listen to.
Seemed ok at first but a strange comment struck out to me. It was one of the hosts saying that they don’t mind paying more for food or that they don’t know anyone that would be affected by it being more expensive due to supply chain issues. Someone who thinks their opinion on politics is so important to put it on a podcast should certainly be aware that more expensive food is not good and never has been. It followed by a smug conversation on it being good “for the planet” that shelves are empty and it being hard to find vegetables out of season and that they are good people for thinking that’s good.
The last episode I checked out when they talked about a comedy special as if it was a presidential press conference. A comedian made some jokes that some people didn’t like. They then proceed to talk as if they know more about how to do comedy than a professional comedian “I wish he didn’t do this” “Disappointing” and something to the effect of how he should have done it differently (ok mom). This is about a comedian! He’s joking around!! The whole conversation you would think they were talking about an important political, powerful person saying something shocking. But no, it was a comedian making jokes. If they are that sure of their own opinion on a subject they are clearly ignorant on (they are not comedians and do not give benefit of the doubt to the professional doing it) it gives me the impression that on other more complex and important topics they do the same thing and do not defer to professionals or at least try to understand them when they disagree.
The whole podcast reminds me of that South Park episode about people in San Francisco thinking they know better than everyone else. It’s all a smug show.”
