Stale
PMT used to be a really dynamic and funny podcast that included different topics across all sports and pop culture. Now, they’ve pigeonholed themselves into a football parody podcast, which is great if you’re a hardcore football fans. I watch the NFL casually and find their feed to be bone dry post super bowl and pre week 1 of the NFL season. Big Cat naturally has a more diverse taste in sports and culture and makes a concerted effort to engage with fans beyond football. PFT is a genius when it comes to drawing ridiculous and funny connections to sports and life/history. However, in three years he’s failed to take a real interest in anything besides the NFL and the continuous restructuring of the same jokes now falls flat. While Big Cat and Hank try to add a new segment discussing Game of Thrones, PFT tries to change the conversation back to football with a regurgitated Mel Kiper pie joke. During the Final Four, the culmination of arguably the best sporting event of the year, PFT is flying to Hong Kong for a rugby tournament. The two hosts have a completely unique ability to deconstruct standard sports media and flip it on its head entirely. It just seems their abilities are going to waste half the year while football is no longer the main focus for people who enjoy other things.
