EPISODE #182: How to Spot a Scam Featuring Kirther Investment
Listen now
Description
Thanks to @miss_tofuuu from TikTok frong bringing this to my attention: "Have you heard sir about Kirther investment? Wanna know if it's legit? Thank you" According to their website, "Kirther Investment & Trading Inc is an active trading company registered in Canada with Business Number (852782259RC0001)." Who does that? Adding your business number to your website? I'm not sure if that's a common practice in Canada but this is the first time I've seen this and it's an automatic red flag in my books. When I try to do a due diligence check on anything, may it be a person, a company, an investment, etc. - I always check if they have a website. It's easy: just go to https://www.google.com/ and search for their name there. But of course, it doesn't stop there because everyone (except the PH government, lul) can create or have someone create a well designed and functional website. Check for spelling and grammar mistakes as scammers are very prone to this. Ignore the testimonials as it's very easy to make yourself look good and add an appealing stock photo with it. The final step will be checking the team behind the company/business. If they don't have this on their website, you may Google "Name of Company Founder(s)". If there are no results, that might be a red flag. In Kirther's case, they have their team on their website but the problem is, they're all fake. None of the actually exists and they just used stock photos to represent their "team members". I hope this video helps you out and please, don't fall for these scams. Always practice due diligence and do your own research. Use all the tools you have online and triple check your sources before pulling the trigger on an investment.
