Description
Helping women understand and embrace their individuality is at the heart of Lindsay Parker’s coaching philosophy. Lindsay didn’t always consider herself “the lifting type.” But, after falling in love with the process of biomechanics, lifting, and strength training, she soon found herself passionate about helping other women navigate through the world of fitness. Certified in biomechanics, execution, and program design, Lindsay has made it her mission to help her clients appreciate their bodies and enrich their lives through her platform, LiftingLindsay. Lindsay joins me today to discuss cultivating a healthy approach to fitness and nutrition. She shares her training philosophy and explains the value of a coach’s circle of influence. She discusses the role of shame, anxiety, and being emotionally charged in one’s fitness journey. She describes what intuitive eating is and how to do it more effectively. And Lindsay also highlights the role of coaching and accountability and underscores why finding the right coach is critical.   You have to have self-compassion to have curiosity, which then leads to education and change. If we can get curious about our behaviors, then we can identify patterns and form new habits. – Lindsay Parker   This week on the Physical Preparation Podcast: * The girl with a ballerina frame and what drew Lindsay to the weight room * How Lindsay fell in love with the process of strength training * Breathing health into fitness and why women struggle to achieve their fitness goals * Anxiety’s impact on the ability to achieve goals and how coaches can help * Social media and how it negatively impacts how we perceive our bodies * How Lindsay helps her clients manage their expectations about what they can achieve with their bodies * The role of education in managing coaching clients’ fitness expectations * Understanding how shame can negatively impact a person’s fitness journey * How our childhood upbringing can impact our relationship to failure, fitness, and health * Rethinking and changing the culture of food * Trust-based marketing and the role of accountability in fitness success * Lindsay’s advice to young ladies and coaches on building a personal brand on Instagram   Connect with Lindsay: * LiftingLindsay * Lindsay Parker on Instagram   Stop the Frustration!
