Heartfelt and Healing
Dear Vanessa and Xander, New listener here by about 2 months (although I have binged most of your episodes at this point on Spotify)! I wanted to tell you that I was brought to tears by listening to both your “Purity Culture” and “Why We’re Childfree” episodes. These subjects are very personal to me and hearing you talk about them healed me in ways I can’t properly describe in an iTunes review. I’ve been doing the work (in this past year particularly) to unlearn what 21 years of religious fear- mongering and sex-negativity instilled in me. And as someone who knows she doesn’t want children (my last partner left me over this decision), giving myself permission to mourn the family I could have had with him was a tremendously healing experience. I’ve been in a constant state of defense trying to prove to others that my choice to be childfree is the “perfect” choice for me, instead of accepting that sometimes there is no perfect choice. And that it’s okay to wonder about the paths you didn’t take, even when you know the path you’re on is the right one for you. When I first came across the Pillow Talks Podcast I expected to learn about sex and intimacy and have some laughs along the way. What I didn’t expect was to heal my inner child and adult wounds in the process. I hope this review wasn’t TMI, but I wanted to express how significantly you and the show have impacted my life. Many thanks to you both, from a very grateful listener. 🙏4️⃣❤️‍🩹

I recently started following Xander and Vanessa and love their dynamic with each other. I’ve really enjoyed their podcasts. They are informative but light hearted and casual.
