Thoughtful Podcast for Digifans
I'm a longtime Digimon fan and I really appreciate that this podcast is taking a deeper more analytical look at the DIgimon universe and its themes. Even though you might not always agree with the hosts viewpoints, I think you will always found them to be challenging and thought provoking and it will make you think about your favorite childhood cartoon in ways you hadn't thought of before. If I had any critique of the podcast, I sometimes feel like they're reading too much into the show than what the writers intended and sometimes are judging what's a children's toy commercial cartoon a bit too harshly at times. LIke I dont think the writers were intending anything mean spirited or sexist in the way portrayed Izzy and Mimi's relationship. I think they were just trying to make a statement about introverts versus extroverts which is a common trope you see in a lot of children's media. Even in other anime aimed at girls like Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure, you see this extrovert vs introvert trope al lthe time. I suppose you could be critical that children's shows have a very narrow view of introverts but I feel like Izzy would have the same personality even if the genders were reversed. I also wish they would include more references to the Japanese version in the show instead of just focusing on certain key scenes. Because I feel like a lot of the hosts' criticisms of the characters' personalities are largely created by the English dub. Like Mimi is nowhere near as materialistic and stereotyped in the Japanese version as she is in the dub. And the dub really exaggerates everyone's flaws, especially Tai and Matt's. I think the hosts would have a much more pleasant time rewatching Digimon if they watched the Japanese version instead. But that's just my opinion and I still strongly respect the hosts and the interesting viewpoints they bring to Digiomon fandom and I highly recommend this podcast for all Digifans.Read full review »

An all-around excellent podcast... Great sound quality and, heh, prodigious knowledge of the source materials. Color me impressed! And jealous, honestly.
