Long time listener / first time reviewer
I've been listening to the show for at least a decade, and Amicus and the Political Gabfest are the reasons I decided to shell out for Slate+. The political commentary is great, but as inevitably happens the farther they stray from that topic the less valuable their commentary becomes. Specifically, over the years I've been dissatisified with their opinions related to politics in rural areas, and when they start talking about education and labor issues I cringe. Sigh. As a midwesterner I just wish I could find something comparable but from a midwestern perspective. While I do enjoy the banter among the three — and their guests are usually outstanding, I'm growing weary of listening to shows comprised of people from the east (and to a lesser extent) west coasts.Read full review »

I do enjoy listening to the political gabfest each week. The trio does a good job of exploring each discussion topic, and provides thoughtful, witty commentary—Dickerson keeps the discussion rolling and doesn't let it lag. This podcast is consistently informative and entertaining. The chemistry amongst the podcasters is good, and their knowledge is broad and well-expressed. Even when I disagree with one or all of them, I love to hear them discuss -- or argue -- the topics of the week.
