The Preeminant and Pontifactual Pope Podcast
With great aplomb and fanfare, Pontifacts arrived on the busy history podcast scene, sporting a familar format but an understudied field: the Popes. They worked within the confines of the review and rate style that is so readily recognizable through podcasts like Rex Factor and Totalus Rankium but these ladies (yes they are from the Lady Pod Squad) put their own spin on things and seperate themselves from the rest of the podcast scene. They are insightful, informative, engaging, and comedic all in the perfect measure. They not only present material on the popes but engage with the world at large, often citing or inviting other podcasters to give their listeners a fuller, more rounded view of the Popes and the world in which they lived and prosthelytized. Both hostesses bring something to the table, one brings the information and the narrative, the other brings the sarcasm, wit, and perspective that we as listeners hundreds of years seperated can relate to. They have a reverence for the material as well as a levity that elevates them above so many of the other history podcasts out there. Each Monday, Pontifacts brings joy, knowledge, and a chance to connect with the past in a fantastic way. Pontifacts is the reigning queen of podcasts.

Still at early stages (in mid-2018) but considering the impact of the Catholic Church and the papacy on Europe and the broader world it’s definitely going to be...Read full review »

Once I ran out of History of Byzantium episodes, I started looking for some other chronological narrative history I could listen to at bedtime. Pontifacts turned out to be terrible for that because it makes me laugh too much! But I love the show anyway. Bry’s enthusiasm for the subject is...Read full review »
