A classical case of drawing a conclusion, then looking for data. Alex is a friend of fossil fuels. He makes the case for them based on reliability (which should be a consideration) and price (not cost). He ignores multiple variables and glosses over externalized costs. Humans, especially smart humans, are capable of sophisticated rationalizations. Alex is a fairly typical example of that behavior .
