Weirdly Accurate
With flat vocal affect and steady but rushed cadence, the unreliable narrator walks us across the country, sharing her impressions, assessments, and deep thoughts. It’s one of the most accurate depictions of living as a girl/woman under the male gaze I’ve encountered. It feels metaphorical, so close listeners may have fun puzzling out the references and meaning. Occasional other voices appear with more realistic glimpses of the world — and showing the capable hand of the creator. I’m honestly not sure what to make of Private Property, but ultimately in a good way.
