Chiefs’ apologists
Mike and Chris did nothing but make excuses for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl film breakdown episode. Everything from the refs to the Chiefs o-line injuries to Mahomes’ injured toe to Brit Reid’s crash were all made excuses for why the Chiefs did not win or at least make the game competitive. They gave very little credit to the Bucs, who put in a dominant performance. These so-called distractions may have played a part in the game but the result may have been the same had none of these things occurred. We’ll never know and they did occur so let’s not dwell on them and focus on the game, which was totally one-sided. The title of this episode indicates that they would discuss the game film yet during the minimal game coverage they provided they just provided excuses for why the Chiefs were not competitive. Nothing about the Bucs defense domination of the Chiefs offense who were held without a touchdown or the fact that this was the first game Mahomes was beat by more than one score. The Bucs’ players and coaches at least deserve some credit for playing and coaching the game of their lives against a team that nobody thought they could beat- even though those experts knew about the o-line, Brit Reid, and Mahomes’ injury. I usually like Mike and Chris but this episode was not their best effort and came across rather biased.
