Episode 185 | Scoliosis, Pelvic Health, and Mental Health with Dr. Laura Glazebrook, DPT
In today's episode of Psych Talk I chat with Dr. Laura Glazebook, DPT a physical therapist who specializes in scoliosis and pelvic health. Laura and I start the conversation by discussing how these diagnoses can impact one's mental health and body image. Laura discusses how these diagnoses often are associated with fear of pain, in turn, limiting one's mobility and functioning and discusses how these diagnoses impact various phases of life (pregnancy, postpartum, etc.). We discuss how these diagnoses also impact men, how they may show up differently for men, and the stigma surrounding, particularly a pelvic floor dysfunction diagnosis, for men. Further, Laura discusses how she works on resilience with her clients and offers words of encouragement for anyone who may be struggling with scoliosis or pelvic floor dysfunction.
