Great concept

The concept is so great, I am kicking myself for not thinking of it first. The hosts seem nice enough and keep me entertained, but the strange thing is out of the five or six episodes that I’ve listened to, they haven’t liked any of the albums besides one (even some bonafide classics). Do these dudes even dig punk rock? While I am completely cool listening to someone who has different musical tastes than me, where it falls short a bit is the lack of research going into some of the episodes and getting some info wrong. I still like it enough though because I am a total nerd for record reviews. It’s just so strange that a punk rock review show doesn’t like Circle Jerks, Rudimentary Peni, The Boys, the Clash (other than give em enough rope), MDC, The Business, The Subhumans, The Dicks etc...

Saying that The Subhumans culturally appropriated reggae music on the “Rats” episode because they have no black members is a huuuuuge stretch BTW. A totally anti-racist band. Your intro music is by Jawbox (a band of white members doing a rock and roll song...). Maybe I’m just too old to get where they’re coming from.

I really don’t want to re-rewrite my review .

I don’t listen to a lot of podcasts these days but wanted a punk one that was not interviews. Punk Lotto fits the bill. It’s refreshing to hear viewpoints on punk from people a decade or so younger than myself even if I don’t agree with their review. I’m somewhere in the 2019s now and will continue to listen if they keep churning them out.

Update: 2021: I’ve made it to where the format has changed so I felt like I needed to redo my review. Having the guest pick the album has been a great format change. The interviews are insightful and enjoyable. I especially liked the episodes with Bedroommagic and Wife Patrol.
