Now that I’ve listened to the first episode, I have to double down on my praise. It just so happens that the French part eclipses some family history/folklore. We were told growing up that our grandfather, Paul Blum, was related to Leon Blum. All we knew about Leon Blum growing up is that he was the first Jewish prime minister. In high school, from a footnote in a history text book, I learned that he was also a socialist and the shortest serving prime minister in French history. Fiftyish years later, I learned more about him, knew he was a big deal, but never learned the details of his ascendency to the prime ministership in the 1930s.”
