Lily Riley. Cancer Survivor & Record Breaking Powerlifter
Listen now
Description
She’s one of the strongest women in Australia – Lily Riley has a 235kg squat, over a 200kg deadlift and over a 100kg bench, and she only weighs 75kg herself.  But that’s not why she’s remarkable (though it is impressive).  The 25-year-old also is just over a year out of treatment for stage 2 kidney cancer, with a huge 12cm tumour requiring her to have her entire kidney removed.  Lily talks to Rebuild about how she was diagnosed with cancer the day before a powerlifting competition, how she has adapted to training with one kidney, rebuilt her body and life, and how giving up was never an option. This breath-taking conversation is one of tribulation, triumph and empowerment as Lily catches the world's attention, by still being the world class powerlifter she is.
