When Things Come To An End, What Falls Apart

In this episode I want to start to open a conversation with you all about what may get stirred up for us when we know that something is coming to an end. What does it mean for us when we know an ending is coming? And what may we learn about ourselves as we try to navigate endings differently?

Can You Be Too Smart For Therapy?

Can You Be Too Smart For Therapy?

In this episode I want to explore this idea of being too smart or too self-aware to make use of therapy. What may be going on for us when we find ourselves grappling with this? And what happens when we understand someone so deeply we struggle to have feelings about it? It seems it’s time to dig into the concept of intellectualization.

Ep. 204 Why Gratitude Can Be So Hard and What To Do About It

As we enter the new year, we may have recommitted to our gratitude practices. It makes sense that if we want to cultivate more gratitude, then it starts with making more time to get in touch with what we are grateful for. But I have different thoughts on ways to cultivate more gratitude in our lives that goes beyond lists. Enjoy!

Ep. 202 Inner Child Healing: The Best Modality or Toxic Self-Help?

Ep. 202 Inner Child Healing: The Best Modality or Toxic Self-Help?

Inner child work is a popular self-help tool that is often touted as the end all be all tool for healing. As someone who has personally benefitted from inner child work, I wanted to record an episode where I break down what it is, what is useful about it, and why it is a very limited tool. Enjoy!

Ep. 201 Therapy Speak and What Happens In Psychotherapy

Ep. 201 Therapy Speak and What Happens In Psychotherapy

With therapy speak on the rise, I wanted to bring my thoughts on what is happening both culturally and personally that may be lending itself to this phenomenon. I explore the role of language in our healing, what therapy speak and other jargon ideas may be doing to our relationships, and how it all ties to what happens in psychotherapy. Enjoy!

Comfort food (for the soul) in a podcast.

This podcast is the best self-help podcast I have ever come across. Thais is so knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled, and so real, so balanced, so kind. Somehow, there’s a fitting episode for every experience and state of mind I’ve ever wanted to address, and she anticipates every question or worry and answers them all. It’s not therapy because it cannot be, but it’s as close as a podcast can be (and sometimes I even feel that Thais hears and sees me better than my therapist does). Now that I know that this podcast exists, I can’t go back; there is truly nothing like it, and no one like Thais.
