I found Jake’s YouTube channel around 2010 while looking up film junket interviews. I was delighted by Jake’s presence as a genuine fan who was visibly passionate in every interview he did and I loved the thoughtful and interesting questions he asked. Following him on Twitter led me to Kevin’s channel who had equally admirable and compelling interviews. Jake tweeted about the AwardsBlend podcast and I was hooked after just one episode. What stands out about this podcast, for me, are two things: firm beliefs and brotherly love.
While there are plenty of times that the guys agree with each other, there are plenty of more times that they don’t agree with each other and that provides the kind of content you can just sink your teeth into. They get loud and excited while defending their sides - one of them threatens to quit at least once per show - but I’ll be damned if these guys don’t love and respect each other. It’s a type of banter that I wish would move over into our society - disagreeing in a healthy, productive, and INFORMATIVE way. These guys are always learning something about themselves and each other during each episode. ReelBlend is a playground for movie fans and it’s the thing I look most forward to each week. They take the idea of “water cooler talk” and elevate it to an intimate dinner conversation. Can’t recommend this more. DUNKIRRRRRRRK!”
