“Thomas Edsall interview was great because he started talking about why so many people are supporting anti-democratic leaders. We need to talk about people’s concerns and why they support Trump. Change is really hard for people, especially if they feel they are being negatively impacted. We need more people interviewing people on the right in mainstream media that gets beyond their boring talking points and to the real underlying feelings and causes.
It was interesting to hear about the backlash that came to democrats after the civil rights act and then again after Obama was elected. This pattern makes me think there is a lot of hidden and latent racism in the American culture. The Russell Moore letter about evangelicals from the inside seems to confirm that, and adds there is probably a gender bias against women as well.
