Since 2015, YouTube Kids has dominated the world of video streaming content for kids online. But over the years, the app has been criticized for its moderation failures and other safety concerns for young people. Recently congress has focused in on the app’s autoplay feature calling for its removal. Recode’s Rebecca Heilweil explains how it works,why adults feel it’s so problematic for children and why designing content platforms for kids is more complicated than it may seem.
