Fantastic debate!
The addition of a second presenter and voice in this season on the Olympus have been a huge boost to a great podcast. Episode 9 was a highlight, and the debate on the second half was outstanding in its honesty and transparency. But I disagree with the premise- that there are only three options. There IS a fourth option: be more critical towards the games and the purity claim, and change our view towards that. The games are not pure, and the rest of the world is not pure. The question is what are you striving for, and what is treated as a mistake or as a norm. Another mistake is to view boycott as the only alternative to rolling over. You can participate by use the opportunity for diplomacy, persuasion. Challenge norms, soft power and a lot more. The host country is not the only one that gets to do that.accept the world as impure, but rather than selling out get to work to make it better rather than sitting it out because it’s umpire. Anyways, great stuff.

Great reflection on the setting of "normal" in our society... Looking forward to the next one.Read full review »

I enjoy the way Malcolm Gladwell thinks in examining aspects of history. The first episode teaches moral licensing through examples of women who entered a male dominated role in art and politics. Women-- we still have a way to go!

A little weirded out by the reviews (positive and negative) that were written prior to the first episode airing.... Anyway, really enjoyed the first episode, and excited to hear more. Great, unique concept!
