“I got through only 25 minutes of the episode on Admiral Nelson. I wanted to learn more about Nelson’s life and hear someone’s analysis or opinion on the significance of Nelson’s various victories and contributions to strategy.
Unfortunately, I clearly know more about Admiral Nelson than these hosts. They failed to mention How Nelson boarded the ships at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent (he climbed over the deck of one to get to the other) or his message to the fleet at Trafalgar (“England expects every man will do his duty”).
They also stated that Trafalgar ended the Napoleonic invasion threat. This is false on its face; Napoleon’s channel-clearing fleet had already been forced back to port at the battle of Cape Finisterre, and the Army of England converted to Le Grand Armee. What Trafalgar did was smash the Franco-Spanish fleet and ensure Royal Navy supremacy on the seas, foreclosing any possibility of future invasion.
Without performing this basic research, these hosts present a boring show.”
